Based in Montreal, Transmission Ensemble—Lori Freedman, clarinet; Guy
Pelletier, flute; Brigitte Poulin, piano; Julie Trudeau, cello; Alain Giguère, violin; and Julien Grégoire, percussion—comes to New York to perform Xenakis' chamber music in a setting of music by French composers.

Lori Freedman
Lori Freedman, clarinets, has been conspicuously described as “a musical revolutionary in the front ranks of the avant-garde”. With full throttle in both contemporary and improvised music streams she is known internationally for her provocative and creative performances. Over thirty composers have written solo bass clarinet music for her and her work has been recorded on forty CDs.
Alain Giguère
Violinist Alain Giguère is both founding and current member of the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal, Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil, Orchestre Symphonique de Laval and Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM), with which he performs regularly as a soloist. He recently performed as soloist at the Festival de Montpellier with the Orchestre Symphonique de Radio-France.
Julie Trudeau
Julie Trudeau, cello, has performed as a soloist with the Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Townships Chamber Orchestra and Drummondville Symphony Orchestra. As cellist of the Molinari Quartet, she has made numerous concert tours in Europe and was a soloist for the Esprit Orchestra of Toronto and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. She is now a member of the cello quartet Ponticello.
Brigitte Poulin
Pianist Brigitte Poulin is an active proponent of new music. She has commissioned and premiered more than thirty works for solo piano, prepared piano and various chamber ensembles, and she has performed with Bradyworks, Chants libres, Continuum, Ensemble contemporain de Montréal, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec.
Guy Pelletier
Flutist Guy Pelletier has toured North America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. He has recorded for forty CDs of various productions. He has been a member of Montréal's Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and the woodwind quintet Pentaèdre. He has a serious interest in flutes from other cultures such as the Indian bansuri, the Chinese dize, the Arabic nay, and the Bolivian quena.
Julien Gregoire
Julien Grégoire is a renowned figure in contemporary percussion. He has recorded 30 albums, played with the Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal and Grands Ballets Canadiens Orchestra, and performed with I Musici, Studio de Musique Aancienne de Montréal. He is a founding member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and of the Sixtrum Percussion Ensemble.
